In 1991, I set up Chameleon Nursery in North London, which went on to become one of the most successful private nurseries in the area. Prior to starting the nursery, I undertook many months of extensive research to find out exactly what was missing in other nurseries, and what we could offer which would make us the most sought after. The resulting ethos of the nursery was quite simple; recruit the highest quality staff.
Deciding to build on the extensive recruitment experience I had enjoyed whilst running the nursery, I felt that starting an employment agency was an obvious next step after selling the nursery in late 2006. I embarked on the same level of robust research to find out what other agencies offered and what we could offer that parents and children needed that would make us the ‘go to’ agency. As part of my research, I took employment myself as a nanny, to help give me insider knowledge of exactly what demands are placed on a nanny’s shoulders and what it takes to be a good nanny and employee.
